Case Studies

The New Business Challenge – Christine

Christine had re-trained as a foot health practitioner and opened her new business while still working part-time in her former profession.

Christine’s business quickly flourished and she found it increasingly difficult to fit both jobs into her life.  Yet, she was very scared of drawing any money out of her business for herself, because she was so worried that she would not have enough to pay her taxes.

Christine needed to know how much money she required from the business to live well, build up a fund for unforeseen expenses and special events like Christmas and holidays, and also budget adequately for her taxes.  She also needed to learn how to balance that against the needs of her business and how much the business could afford to pay her.

Sanni gave her those skills and as a result Christine now draws a regular “salary” from her business, has given up her old job and enjoys a much better work/life balance.

I think your work is amazing…  (B.L.)

The Unemployed Single Parent – Stephanie

Stephanie, a single mother, was previously a highly paid professional in a senior position until she suffered a nervous breakdown and had to give up work.

She had never been able to live within the means her generous salary provided and, following the loss of that income, incurred about £25,000 debt. When she sought Sanni’s help her debt was on the verge of spiralling out of control, because the minimum repayments on her credit cards had left Stephanie with so little money that she had to borrow more simply to put food on the table.

Stephanie needed to overcome the emotional barriers that had prevented her from living within her means.  She also needed to find a way to pay off her debts that would leave her with sufficient money for her young family to live on.

Sanni helped her do that, so that within a year of working together, Stephanie had not only paid off all her debt, but also found the money to pay for her son’s first 2 years private secondary education.

You have completely demystified the whole thing for me.  (P.C.)

A New Venture for a Psychotherapist – Siegfried

Siegfried is a highly qualified psychotherapist who developed a particular approach to using psychological methods in the work place.  He had trained other therapists in this approach and they had formed a network of practitioners.  Siegfried had also created a psychological tool that became widely used in the field.

He continued to work beyond retirement age and was in the process of transforming his business into a social enterprise so that his work would be continued by his colleagues and former students.  Although his finances had always been very well organised, the financial aspects of the new project severely distressed him.

He needed to know how much money he required for a comfortable retirement whilst considering the needs of the new venture.

Sanni gave Siegfried the necessary clarity about his financial needs which took away his distress.  This enabled him to negotiate calmly with his associates.
